fascia painting, hvac, plumbing and pushing vents

it was a busy week, with various trades at the house; a painter, the hvac crew, the framers, and the plumbers. as well as coordinating with other people; roofing guys, garage door guys, stucco/drywall guys. all in all, an ultra productive week.

roof inspection and pick up

finished up last week with an inspection on our roof and floor structure/nailing; and we passed! following this, the framers have been working on items that needed to be buttoned up, and this has resulted in a lot of progress [shear walls built, columns and hardware installed, doors openings and walls completed framing, structural panels nailed]. this has resulted in the house stiffing up and forming a structural system.

floor and roof

a mistake in the truss dimension was caught just as the roof was that much closer to being done; but through a combination of good framers [ a-frame construction inc., san diego,ca ], responsive truss manufactures, and decent project management, the issue was resolved over one day of work and only a few hours of labor were lost. as we pulled off the roof, a push to lay new 3/4" plywood over the existing floor moved through the master bedroom [which was firred 0"-3/8"-0" over 25'], closets, bathrooms and living space.

roof progression

blocking and A-35'ing the bevel blocks and shear wall blocks occupied a couple days of work, while sheets of osb were laid around the roof. the california fill sections of the roof were built, and blend the roof hips nicely. truss tails were cut to length, then re-sawn 2x6 doug fir for the fascia was sighted and nailed. rough sawn western red ceder 1x6 tounge and groove material is being used for the starter board, and is going to look very nice.
